The Himalayan Expeditions Organizes an Exciting Trail Run in April 2024


The Himalayan Expeditions organized the fourth edition of the Silk Route Ultra Trail from April 12th to April 14th, 2024. The trail run took place from Narkanda to Sarahan, featuring four challenging categories of 100 km, 55 km, 33 km, and 15 km. This event was a unique blend of adventure, tourism, and SVEEP, promoting adventure sports, tourism, and voter awareness.

The Silk Route Ultra Trail: Challenging and Exciting

The Silk Route Ultra Trail is a prestigious ultra trail race passing through the ancient Indo-Tibet road. This challenging trail run provides a unique experience for runners, testing their mental strength and physical abilities. Participants will travel through the paths followed by ancient traders and explorers, which was once the oldest and most mysterious trade route in the Himalayas. The event will have four categories: 100 km, 55 km, 33 km, and 15 km, starting from Narkanda and concluding at Sarahan, Bagi, and Lafughati.

The event featured four categories:

  • 100-km Ultra-Trail: Rigzin Gyurmeth's impressive win in 19 hours and 28 minutes.
  • 55-km Race: Ankur Kumar claimed victory.
  • 33-km Challenge: Stanzin Wangchuk emerged as the winner.
  • 15-km Sprint: Milan Halder showcased remarkable speed.

The 2024 SRUT will feature trail runners of national and international repute.Over 160 participants of national and international acclaim joined the event, including schoolchildren in the under-18 category, adding a touch of youthfulness and enthusiasm to the trail.

The runners will raise awareness about voting in 30 panchayats falling under the trail, motivating people to vote. The objective of the program is to get eligible young voters registered in the voter list under SVEEP and to motivate them to exercise their vote.
