The state government, led by Chief Minister
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is wholeheartedly supporting this endeavor. Recognizing
the potential of adventure tourism to drive economic growth, the government has
pledged its full support to ensure the event's success.
Beyond the World Cup, Himachal Pradesh is
planning a grand Himachal Paragliding Festival to showcase the state's rich
cultural heritage, adventure sports, wellness offerings, and literary and
entertainment scene. This festival aims to promote women in paragliding and
highlight India's sportsmanship through a world-class opening and closing
ceremony.
To further enhance the state's tourism
infrastructure, the government has declared Kangra district the 'Tourism
Capital' and is investing in developing world-class amenities for visitors.
This includes the construction of heliports in every district headquarters,
with five already underway. The Sanjauli heliport in Shimla is nearing
completion, promising improved air connectivity.
Water tourism initiatives are also in the
pipeline, with plans to develop water sports facilities at Govindsagar
reservoir in Bilaspur district and Andhroli in Una. To boost tourism in Pong
Dam, hot air ballooning will be promoted.
In a move to cater to the growing tourist
influx, the government has decided to keep shops open 24 hours during peak
season.
