Himachal Pradesh Wins "Best State in Food Processing Award-2024

Himachal Pradesh has been awarded the "Best State in Food Processing Award-2024" for its remarkable contributions to the food processing sector. The state's initiatives have not only positively impacted millions of farmers and rural populations but have also significantly enhanced food processing infrastructure in the region.

Outstanding Work Recognized

The state's efforts in the food processing sector were acknowledged at the "Agriculture Leadership Conclave" organized by the "Agriculture Today Group" in New Delhi. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the award to recognize Himachal Pradesh's outstanding work in the field.

Commitment to Innovation and Excellence

Himachal Pradesh's Department of Industries, represented by Meera Mohanty, received the prestigious award. The state's commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in food processing has been underlined by this recognition.

Infrastructure and Initiatives

The state government has made substantial strides in enhancing food processing infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh. With 23 designated food parks, one mega food park, two agro processing clusters, and 18 cold chain projects, the state has demonstrated its dedication to the sector's development.

Empowering Entrepreneurs

Additionally, the state has launched the State Mission on Food Processing Scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, through which numerous food processing units and 1,320 micro food processing enterprises have been sanctioned. These initiatives have provided significant credit-linked subsidies and seed capital to Self Help Groups (SHGs) and members, empowering local entrepreneurs and contributing to the growth of the sector.

Previous Recognitions

This is not the first time Himachal Pradesh has been recognized for its achievements in the food processing sector. Last year, the state was acknowledged as an 'Outstanding Performing State' under the Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme at the World Food India event.
